Coffee producers collect these cherries at the appropriate level of ripeness that is required. This helps them in expressing the tastiest flavor possible. Every kind of coffee is found with its selective harvesting and maturity process based on how long does it take to reach its utmost taste.
When the coffee cherries get harvested, then the beans are removed from the fruit. In the next step, they are roasted. During this stage, the coffee turns dark brown, and it becomes the bean that every people are aware of.
How do coffee plants look like?
You must notice some vital characteristics of coffee plants, like a coffee plant has branches that remain covered in waxy dark green leaves. These leaves grow in pairs. The most important thing about these leaves is here, the process of photosynthesis takes place. The sunlight is changed into chemical energy, and the energy created from photosynthesis helps the plant grow cherries that contain the coffee beans.
Again, in these branches, you will see the growth of coffee cherries. Finally, after nearly 3 to 5 years of their development, you will see the flowering of these plants. Again, you will also see small and fragrant white blossoms that look like jasmine flowers. Here the branches and leaves meet. These flowers do house the sex cells of the plants, and they help plants reproduce over time. In nearly six weeks after the pollination of the flowers, the coffee cherries develop, and here, the flowers remain located.
After some time, these cherries turn orange, pink, yellow, and red based on the varieties of the coffee. Commonly, a coffee plant lives between 30 and 40 years though a few can live more than 80 years too. These plants are known as shrubs, and they get pruned nearly once every year, and this process does not allow the กาแฟ plants to grow too tall. The majority of the harvesters and farmers opt to keep these plants to nearly 5 to 7 feet. Hence, it becomes easier for them to harvest and maintain them every year.
